Hires at S&S Children's

Brian Gentes, Renne Fountain and Brenna Sinnott have joined Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing. Gentes, who previously worked in school textbook and magazine publishing, has been named educational sales & licensing manager, subsidiary rights. Fountain, who was at Harcourt Brace, has been named licensing and brand manager. Sinnott, who arrives from Penguin, has been named production editor, managing editorial.

Ruby-Strauss To SSE

Jeremie Ruby-Strauss has been appointed senior editor at Simon Spotlight Entertainment. Scheduled to start at SSE on May 23, Ruby-Strauss was most recently a senior editor at Kensington Books.

Rumble, Martin Up at Scribner

Brant Rumble and Samantha Martin have both been promoted in the editorial department of Scribner. Rumble, who's been with the S&S imprint for seven years (where he discovered and edited Chuck Klosterman), has been bumped up from editor to senior editor. Martin is moving up from assistant editor to associate editor.

Siciliano to Penguin Classics

John Siciliano has been named editor of Penguin Classics, starting May 30. Siciliano had been at Vintage/Anchor, where he was an associate editor.

Ferris, Bodkin Up at HC

Henry Ferris has been named v-p and executive editor of William Morrow. He has been with the imprint for 12 years. Elsewhere at HC, Carolyn Bodkin has been named manager of foreign rights.

Washam Promoted at Viking

Alexis Washam has moved up from editorial assistant to assistant editor at Viking Penguin. Washam, who joined Penguin in 2004, has worked on books by J.M. Coetzee and Julia Alvarez, among others.

Luppino, Innie Rise at McGraw

Lynda Luppino and Debbie Innie have been promoted in the sales department at McGraw-Hill. Luppino, who was v-p of marketing, has been named v-p of group sales; Innie, v-p and director of special markets, is becoming v-p and director of sales operations.

Correction:

Andrew Martin's title was incorrect in the piece "Sterling Gets Tube Plug with DIY" (Foreword, Apr. 24). Martin is v-p and publishing director of Sterling Publishing.
