Pictured (l. to r.) are novelists Karen Joy Fowler (The Jane Austen Book Club), Susan Wiggs (Table For Five), Gail Tsukiyama (Dreaming Water) and Bharti Kirchner (Darjeeling).

From the Edgar Awards

Bestselling mystery scribe Mary Higgins Clark, whose 28th suspense yarn, Two Little Girls in Blue, is topping bestseller lists nationwide, inducts Mystery Writers of America's newest Grand Master, Stuart Kaminsky.

Yankee Doodles

New York Yankees catcher and now kids' author Jorge Posada took time out from his baseball schedule to meet with a group of young reporters at Newsday and promote his March picture book, Play Ball! (S&S/Wiseman).

An Equine Bash

Members of New York publisher BlueBridge gathered on Manhattan's Upper East Side at the 15th-century Italian library of the House of the Redeemer to celebrate the launch of the house's spring lead title, Horse. Pictured here (from l. to r.) are: BlueBridge publicist Meryl Zegarek; BlueBridge publisher Jan-Erik Guerth; Horse author J. Edward Chamberlin; Bernadette Tillmon; Robert Solomon.

Great Northern Festival of Words

NPR radio personality Terry Gross (and author of All I Did Was Ask) spoke to an audience of 500 in Duluth, Minn. last week to kick off that city's first annual Great Northern Festival of Words. From left, Anita Zager of Northern Lights Bookstore; Claire Kirch, PW regional correspondent; Gross; and author Beryl Singleton Bissell, whose memoir, The Scent of God, was published last month by Counterpoint Press.

Hills Honored

Veteran S&S/Free Press editor Frank Hills was the man of the hour at an event earlier this month at Michael's celebrating his distinguished career in the industry. Pictured here are (in center) Hills and his wife, Kathy Matthews. Hills is flanked by his former assistants (l. to r.): Laureen Rowland, Mary Milanese, Alison Meersheart, Fred Hills, Kirsa Rein, Hilary Sares and Kathy Matthews.
