The 114-member Publishers Association of the South has tapped Gina Evans to succeed Pat Sabiston as association executive director on June 1. Evans is a former Books-a-Million bookseller who published the Bibliophile newsletter for reviews of books from small and independent presses. She lives in Florence, S.C., and will move the PAS office there from its current location in Panama City, Fla.
"I feel as if all my professional experience has served to prepare me for this position," she told PW."I wholeheartedly believe that independents are the future of publishing, and am thrilled to be a part of PAS." In making the announcement, PAS president Janice Shay of Design Press said the search committee was impressed by Evans' knowledge of both bookselling and publishing issues.|
