Just Switching Jobs at TBR

by Staff, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 8/11/2005

Longtime New York Times Book Review children's editor Eden Ross Lipson is retiring, according to an internal memo at the Times. She'll be replaced by deputy editor Julie Just, who's scaling back to take the part-time post. The house is promoting Bob Harris, whom editor Sam Tanenhaus called a "first-rate editor and writer "and an organizational genius," to Just's job.

Tanenhaus also called Lipson "an institution, revered for the superb coverage she has provided since 1984," and Just a "dynamic and enterprising presence."Just has served as deputy for seven years. Tanenhaus also announced that he's making Dwight Garner a senior editor and making him part of the management team, "joining Bob and me inputting together the section from week to week."
