Quayside's A'Quiver

by Judith Rosen -- Publishers Weekly, 8/15/2005

Quayside Publishing, a subsidiary of the Quarto Group, has announced that it will add a fifth imprint in fall 2006, which will focus on erotic books and kits.

Quiver will be an offshoot of the company's Fair Winds imprint, which publishes one or two sex books a year; publisher Holly Schmidt will head both lines.

Schmidt, who plans to issue a separate Quiver catalogue to get into accounts that don't carry Quayside titles, said, "What we're doing is really committing to sex as a category. There's a market for sophisticated sex information published in an artful way, with photographs and literate, titillating writing."

The new imprint will publish eight to 10 books a year and will add related Fair Winds titles such as Linda Sonntag's The Bedside Kama Sutra. Fair Winds will continue to publish 40 to 50 books annually, on beauty, fashion, health, cooking and fitness.
