U.S. Doesn't Make Cut as Frankfurt's Guest of Honor

by Staff, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 6/27/2006

The Frankfurt Book Fair has made public the countries it will be honoring at its annual rights fest until 2010. The most notable announcement is that 2008's guest of honor, a position which the fair had hoped would go to the U.S., will be Turkey. This year India will be the country highlighted at the fair while Katalonia (the Spanish province) will be given the spotlight in 2007. The Fair is currently talking to China about 2009 and is hoping to land a Latin American country for 2010.
