Wicks Group Buys Standard Publishing; New CEO Named
by Marcia Ford, Religion BookLine -- Publishers Weekly, 8/2/2006
Former Harcourt Religion Publishers president Matthew Thibeau has been named CEO of Standard Publishing, replacing president Randy Scott in the wake of the Wicks Group’s early July buyout of the Cincinnati-based CBA publishing house. Known today primarily as a curriculum and church resource publisher, Standard started out as a magazine publisher in 1865, with then-future President James A. Garfield as one of its founders.
In 1964, the company went public and expanded to become the multi-industry corporation Standex. The new company will be known as Standard Publishing Group, according to Daniel Kortick, managing partner of the Wicks Group.
