HC Makes Indian Appointments

HarperCollins provided more details this morning about two new executives it has appointed to high spots at HarperCollins India. V.K. Karthika is joining HarperCollins India as publisher and chief editor to lead the overall development of the local publishing program. Krishan Chopra will be publisher and chief editor, Collins Business and Fourth Estate. Karthika and Chopra, who had both been with Penguin India, will each report directly to HarperCollins India CEO P.M. Sukumar. News of their hiring first appeared on the Nov. 13 PW.
Karthika’s responsibilities include the publishing of fiction, self-help, new-age, religion, spirituality, children’s, narrative non-fiction, and travelogues. Chopra will develop the Collins Business list in India with titles focused on management, finance and economics. In addition Chopra’s list will include select titles across a number of general categories such as current affairs, politics, biographies, science, and technology.
