Modan's Exit Wounds Coming from D&Q
Drawn & Quarterly is publishing Exit Wounds, the first English-language graphic novel by Israeli cartoonist Rutu Modan, in June. D&Q has also sold U.K. rights to Exit Wounds to Jonathan Cape, which will publish the book in Britain at the same time. D&Q publicity director Peggy Burns says Modan is "one of Israel's most important artists," and Israeli novelist Edger Keret is writing a blurb for the book.
Archaia Studios Press Release Reader's Guide
Comic book publisher Archaia Studios Press has released a set of Reader's Group Guides for its title The Lone and Level Sands. The guides were created by writer A. David Lewis and artist Marvin Mann. Included in the guides are important questions, text and image analysis, and interviews to be used as discussion or teaching aids in various classrooms and reading groups. Lewis and Mann made the decision to assemble the guides after hearing several anecdotes where fans admitted to using the title The Lone and Level Sands to launch important discussions about religion and graphic storytelling. The Reader's Group guides are free for download at the Archaia Studios Press Web site.
Sienkiewicz Web Site Launches
Well-known artist Bill Sienkiewicz has launched his first official website dedicated to his work in the field of comics. The Web site contains several online galleries featuring Sienkiewicz's published and unpublished illustrations and information on the artist's upcoming projects and appearances. The site also features scans of a wide selection of Sienkiewicz's artwork that is available for purchase. Individuals with an interest in the work of Sienkiewicz should visit the artist's Web site.
Two Morrows Give Away Rough Stuff
Comics publisher Two Morrows has announced that it will be giving away 1000 copies of the second issue of its title Rough Stuff away for free in the month of December. The first 1000 individuals to visit the Two Morrows Web site on December 1 will be able to receive a free copy of Rough Stuff #2. Rough Stuff #2 is a 100-page issue and will feature work from creators Frank Brunner, Jerry Ordway, Brian Apthorp, Matt Wagner and several others in the comics industry.
