Ostrowski to Head Bertelsmann

-- Publishers Weekly, 1/19/2007

Hartmut Ostrowski has been named successor to Gunter Thielen, taking over the position of chairman and CEO of Bertelsmann. Ostrowski, who will officially step into his new role in January 2008, is chairman of Arvato, Bertelsmann's printing and communications service provider division.

In a letter to Random House employees, Random chairman Peter Olson said Ostrowski "has tremendous appreciation for what we achieve, both as a core Bertelsmann profit center and as publishers, and will ensure great support for the further development of our business."
