Beth Moore, leader of Living Proof Ministries, will do a simulcast lecture (Feb. 24) broadcast to more than 500 churches and 100,000 attendees, which will go a long way toward selling the 300,000 copies in print of her Get Out of the Pit.
Eggerichs's January book, Cracking the Communication Code, is propelling sales of his bestselling 2004 title, Love & Respect, which has more than 450,000 copies in print. The book's flap copy explains the author's theme in one sentence: "Cracking the communication code between husband and wife involves understanding one thing: that unconditional respect is as powerful for him as unconditional love is for her."
Joel Rosenberg's first nonfiction title, Epicenter, is also the only political title from an evangelical Christian publisher on the NYT's new political bestseller list. Known for his bestselling political thrillers, in Epicenter Rosenberg writes about how current events in the Middle East will change everyone's future.
Sue Monk Kidd's 1992 book, When the Heart Waits, is a new paperback religion bestseller. That's no surprise to Mark Tauber, HSF publisher, who told RBL, "Her books have been steadily rising in sales and she is fast becoming a classic author of women's spirituality. The accounts are starting to feature her up front much more frequently." HSF's first printing was 6,000 copies; after 50 reprints, it's up to 150,000.
John Hagee's Jerusalem Countdown marks one year on PW's religion list and boasts sales of more than 1.1 million copies. It landed on our February 2006 list with an impressive 250,000 copies in pre-sales, and during its one-year tenure has led the religion list five times. FrontLine, a Strang Communications imprint, released a revised and updated version last month. Strang v-p Tessie DeVore said the book's success "is a reflection of what is going on in our world right now. What makes this milestone even more gratifying is knowing that people are learning about this subject from a Christian and biblical perspective."
