B&T Buys AMS's Book Club Wholesaling Assets

Jim Milliot -- Publishers Weekly, 3/19/2007 11:33:00 AM

Following court approval of its purchase of AMS’s book club wholesaling assets, Baker & Taylor has created Baker & Taylor Marketing Services and, beginning today, has resumed shipping new titles to the warehouse clubs. The purchase involves a range of assets used by AMS to sell bestsellers and other books into the membership warehouse clubs. In addition, B&T acquired AMS’s wholesale distribution operations in the U.K. and Mexico as well as inventory associated with AMS’s publishing operation, Advantage Publishers Group. The purchase, for about $76 million, does not include any inventory that AMS had on hand to ship to the clubs.
