Sales of some faith fiction have become the envy of the publishing industry, and adding such novels to their programs has become the goal of many houses. Now Hollywood has learned its Passion lesson, discovering the potential of the audience for faith-based films and television shows. That has infused new excitement into the category as studios and production companies come calling, option dollars in hand.

In this issue of Religion Update, we look at that new activity, which presents publishers with opportunities and challenges. We also examine the current states of both well-established and rising genres, and spotlight some debut novelists who might be among tomorrow's bestselling authors.
