Hitchens Signs with Da Capo

by Matthew Thornton -- Publishers Weekly, 5/23/2007 8:11:00 AM

Christopher Hitchens, whose argument against religion, God is Not Great, just out from Twelve, is currently sitting near the top of the New York Times bestseller list, will buttress his position in a new book he’ll edit for Da Capo. Titled The Portable Atheist: Essential Readings for the Non-Believer, the book will give readers Hitchens’s own selection of the most essential and influential writings for the non-believer, including pieces from Darwin, Einstein, Twain, Russell, Jefferson, Paine and Marx. Hitchens will also introduce the volume. Ben Schafer, who approached Hitchens with the idea for the book, bought world rights from Steve Wasserman at Kneerim & Williams. The book is set for release this fall.
