Penguin Makes Triple Play

Penguin has reason to celebrate today as three titles from three different Penguin imprints take the top spots in three New York Times bestsellers lists for the week of June 10th. A Thousand Splendid Suns (Riverhead), Khaled Hosseini’s follow-up to his smash hit The Kite Runner, debuts at number one on the NYT hardcover fiction list; Al Gore's The Assault on Reason (The Penguin Press), debuts at the top of the hardcover nonfiction list; and Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love (Viking) returns to the top spot on the paperback nonfiction list. This is quite a coup, with other titles by J.R.R. Tolkein, Michael Chabon, Susan Kingsolver, Joan Didion and Malcolm Gladwell also vying for attention. Looks like the start of a profitable summer for Penguin.
