Compiled by Diane Patrick, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 6/6/2007

Authors on today’s Good Morning America:

Actress Robin Givens discussed her memoir Grace Will Lead Me Home (Miramax, $23.95).

Anahad O'Connor explained Never Shower in a Thunderstorm: Surprising Facts and Misleading Myths About Our Health and the World We Live In (Times Books, $14), which PW found “a great book for the waiting rooms of physicians, dentists and psychiatrists alike.”

Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly visited The Early Show with Hate Mail from Cheerleaders and Other Adventures from the Life of Reilly (Sports Illustrated, $25.95). From PW’s starred review: “Sports fans and regular readers of Sports Illustrated will already know to snap up this book when they see it's a collection of pieces by award-winning Rick Reilly.”

On The Leonard Lopate Show:

Pulitzer-winner Carl Bernstein introduced A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton (Knopf, $27.95; RH Audio abridged CD, $31.95). Tonight he’ll be on The Colbert Report.

Michael Weinreb crowned The Kings of New York: A Year Among the Geeks, Oddballs, and Geniuses Who Make Up America's Top High School Chess Team (Gotham, $26), which is a nominee for the Quill Award for Best Sports Book. PW’s starred review noted that it’s “supported by well-chosen detail, intelligence and terrific writing. Weinreb clearly develops an affection for the eclectic members of the team, and because of the skill he brings to his project, so will his readers.”

Historian Jean Pfaelzer, author of Driven Out: The Forgotten War Against Chinese Americans (Random House, $27.95).

Bob Edwards interviewed historian Michael Beschloss, still promoting Presidential Courage: Brave Leaders and How They Changed America 1789-1989 (S&S, $28; S&S Audio abridged CD, $29.95).

The Diane Rehm Show hosted historian Jill Jonnes, whose book is Conquering Gotham: A Gilded Age Epic: The Construction of Penn Station and Its Tunnels (Viking, $27.95; Tantor Media unabridged audio CD, $34.99). PW’s review declared, “Jonnes can claim an important addition to the popular literature of how New York became the archetype of a great American metropolis.”

Authors on The Book Report:

Nancy Pearl, with Book Crush: For Kids and Teens—Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Interest (Sasquatch, $16.95).

Ann M. Martin, author of Welcome to Camden Falls (Scholastic, $6.99).

Tonight on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, political journalist and historian Michael Barone describes Our First Revolution: The Remarkable British Upheaval That Inspired America's Founding Fathers (Crown, $25.95; Tantor Media unabridged audio CD, $34.99), which PW called a “well-written history.... It was a Glorious Revolution indeed that laid the political groundwork for the world in which we now live, and Barone's lucid work honors its heritage.”
