Simkowitz, Donovan to Counterpoint
Sharon Donovan and Abbye Simkowitz have joined the staff of Counterpoint. Simkowitz was most recently a publicist at St. Martin’s and is relocating from New York to work out of the company’s Berkeley, Calif., office; she’ll start as publicity manager August 1. Donovan, who arrives from the Foundation for Deep Ecology, has been named publishing director.
Wharton to Harper
Campbell Wharton has been named associate director of publicity at HarperCollins’s Harper imprint. Wharton was most recently publicity manager at Crown Forum and has worked with authors Robert Novak and Max Brooks.
Coblentz, Nisbit Join Abrams
Julia Coblentz and Justin Nisbit have been hired at Harry N. Abrams. Coblentz, who arrives from Broadway Books, has been named director of marketing, while Nisbit, coming from Workman, has been brought on as director of digital initiatives.
Peede to NEA
Jon Peede has been named director of literature at the National Endowment for the Arts. He will manage applications, panels and grant awards for literature fellowships, as well as grant awards for literary presses, magazines and organizations.
