AAP June Sales Report

At the mid-point of the year, sales in all but two publishing categories were up, according to AAP's monthly sales estimates. In the six month period, sales were off 1.6% in trade paperback and 2.0% in mass market paperback. The two non-book segments had the strongest gains in the year to date, with audio books up 23.1% and e-books ahead 21.4%. Although sales in the elhi segment inched up only 0.7% in the six-month period, sales to adoption states have begun to kick in, and sales in June were up 12.2% with sales of basal textbooks to adoption states up 33.2%. Supplementary sales, however, continue to be weak, off 14.7% in the month and 12.2% in the January through July period.
