DailyLit Adds Publishers, Titles
-- Publishers Weekly, 8/13/2007 9:43:00 AM
DailyLit, a new company formed this spring to deliver books to customers via e-mail or RSS installments, has added two more publishers to its roster as well as 150 new public domain titles. Perseus Books Group and Globe Pequot have both agreed to give titles to DailyLit, which will launch its paid service in September. Globe’s bestseller, From Baghdad with Love, will be made available in installments through DailyLit, while Perseus will test the service with titles from its Letters to a Young series (e.g. Letters to a Young Contrarian by Christopher Hitchens).
To get people use to its service, DailyLit has been offering free downloads of public domain titles and recently added another 150 titles to its list, bringing the number of books available to 500. According to a spokesperson, about 100,000 free downloads have taken place since DailyLit was launched.
In addition to Perseus and Globe, other publishers that have signed on with DailyLit include Baen Books, Berlitz and Kaplan. Under the DailyLit model, the company will e-mail book installments of about 1,000 words to a customer's device of choice for a fee that will likely be under $5.
