Tony Blair Hires Agent Barnett

By Dermot McEvoy -- Publishers Weekly, 8/17/2007 6:45:00 AM

Former British prime minister Tony Blair is on the hunt for a publisher. According to the Associated Press, Blair has retained Robert Barnett, the Washington attorney who brokered book deals for former President Clinton and former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan. Barnett is credited with getting Clinton $10 million from Random House for his bestselling memoir, My Life, and securing a $8.5 million advance from Greenspan’s tome, The Age of Turbulence, which will be published by the Penguin Press on September 17.

An unnamed Blair representative told the AP that the book—"probably a memoir"—has not yet been written and thus was several years away from publication.
