Ousted U.S. Attorney to Write Justice Department Expose

by Matthew Thornton -- Publishers Weekly, 8/20/2007 1:05:00 PM

David Iglesias, the former U.S. attorney for the District of New Mexico who was one of nine federal prosecutors fired by the Bush administration, has just signed a book deal with Eric Nelson at John Wiley, who took North American rights in an auction conducted by Sandra Dijkstra. In the book, Iglesias will reveal his side of the story in the evolving U.S. attorney scandal that has compromised the tenure of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Among other details, Iglesias will discuss what Gonzales told him in 2001 while White House Counsel; inappropriate contact a member of Congress attempted to make while Iglesias was United States Attorney; and how the fired U.S. attorneys banded together to prepare for their dramatic senate testimony.

Iglesias, who served as the U.S. attorney for New Mexico from October 2001 to February 2007, was also chairman of a committee of U.S. attorneys that advised former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft on border and immigration issues. He will write the yet-to-be-titled memoir with Davin Seay, and Wiley anticipates an April 2008 pub date.
