RCL Benziger Acquires Religion Imprint from Pearson

by Lynn Garrett -- Publishers Weekly, 9/7/2007 11:50:00 AM

RCL Benziger, a newly formed division of CFM Religion Publishing Group, has acquired Silver Burdett Ginn Religion, a Scott Foresman imprint, from Pearson Education. The buy comes on the heels of the acquisition and merger by CFM of RCL: Resources for Christian Living and Benziger to create the new division. CFM is based in Cincinnati; RCL Benziger is headquartered in the former RCL offices near Fort Worth, Texas.

Thirty-year-old Silver Burdett Ginn Religion, which produces catechetical resources for Catholic parishes and schools, will bolster RCL Benziger’s offerings for the Catholic market. SBGR’s We Celebrate the Eucharist and We Celebrate Reconciliation programs have sold more than 2.5 million copies. Silver Burdett Ginn Religion also publishes Blest Are We, a series for preschool though junior high children, along with faith formation materials for adults.
