Random to Publish New Pullman Story

-- Publishers Weekly, 9/21/2007 8:15:00 AM

Random House will add a new story by Philip Pullman, Once Upon a Time in the North, to its spring list, giving Pullman mania—already building in anticipation of the movie premiere of The Golden Compass this December—an additional boost. The story, to be published by David Fickling Books in the U.K. and Knopf in the U.S., is Pullman’s first new work in five years, and will serve as a companion to Lyra’s Oxford, though the events of the new book take place before Lyra Belacqua’s birth. The cloth-bound book will include photographs, newspaper clips and other clues and memorabilia from Pullman’s universe.
