-- Publishers Weekly, 10/16/2007 7:20:00 AM

The Quills Literacy Foundation, along with NBC and Borders, will be auctioning off select, signed copies of 2007 Quills winners and nominees to raise money for the nonprofit First Book. Bids for the books can be placed starting October 22, the day of the Quills gala event in New York, at www.thequills.org. The auctions will close on October 31.

The list, which will continue to grow, includes such titles as Matthew Sharpe’s Jamestown; Irma S. Rombauer, Marion Rombauer Becker and Ethan Becker’s Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition; and David Marusek’s Getting to Know You.

First Book provides an ongoing supply of new books to children participating in community-based mentoring, tutoring and family literacy programs. First Book has provided more than 50 million new books to children in need in thousands of communities nationwide.
