The late July release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows continued to boost sales in the children's hardcover category in August, with sales in the segment jumping 58.6% in the month. The spokenword audio segment, which also benefited from Hallows in July, did not see a carryover affect with sales off 4.8% in August, according to AAP's monthly sales estimates. For the first eight months of the year, the trade segment having the toughest time is mass market paperback, with AAP reporting sales down 6.1%. Excluding the two segments impacted by Hallows, the adult hardcover category had the strongest year-to-date gains, with sales up 14.6%.
