Authors Sue Pearson

Two authors who have written several textbooks for Pearson Education have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, charging the publisher with breach of contract. Courtland Bovee and John Thill allege that by manipulating its royalty accounting, Pearson has improperly withheld royalties due them. The authors are seeking $1.3-million in damages plus attorneys' fees and court costs.
According to the complaint, Pearson manipulates the price of authors' books by “systematically assign[ing] certain sales to incorrect categories and simply fail[ing] to report other sales.”
A Pearson spokesperson said the publisher doesn't comment on litigation.
