YALSA Lists Teen Comics
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has announced its list of Great Graphic Novels for teens of 2008. There are forty-three books on the list, including Laika, Yotsuba&!, The Plain Janes, Houdini: The Handcuff King, and The Arrival. The books on the list are recommended for ages 12-18. The entire list can be viewed at the YALSA’s website.

Guests At NYCC 2008
New York Comic Con has announced Bryan Hitch will be a guest of honor at the show, which will take place April 18-20, 2008 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. NYCC also announced other guests which includes Chris Batista, Oliver Coipel, Steve Epting, David Finch, Rob Liefeld, Ivan Reis, Walt Simonson, Jim Steranko, and Ethan Van Sciver. NBM’s Boneyard on Hiatus
The NBM comic horror series Boneyardwill go on hiatus in March. The creator of Boneyard, Richard Moore, is taking the break to work on other comic books and children’s books. Boneyard #28 will be the last issue before the series goes on hiatus. More information about Boneyard can be found at the NBM website.

ComicsPRO Decries Con Sales
ComicsPRO, the Comics Professional Retail Organization, has posted a position paper on it’s website, “ComicsPRO States Position on Publisher Convention Sales.” In the post the organization asks publishers not to sell books at conventions before the books go on sale in retail stores. The ComicPRO position paper states, “When publishers sell to our customers before we even have the product, it makes for an uneasy business relationship.” PW The Beat explains the pro and the con of it all. Spidey, Mary Jane Break up
Over at the PW The Beat, Heidi MacDonald collects the coverage of Marvel’s controversial Spider-Man, Mary Jane break up. The post includes links, to Fox News, the Washington Post and L.A. Times coverage of the controversial storyline, along with a CBR interview with Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada on the subject. The Beat’s earlier posts on the break up includes some initial fan reactions. Also, The Beat collects links to some ealier coverage of the breakup, including New York Post coverage and Newsweek coverage.
