Promos At Tor

A number of promotions this week at Tor Books: Patty Garcia has been bumped up to associate director of publicity; Alexis Saarela to publicity manager; Dot Lin to publicity manager; and Kyle Avery has moved from the sales department to become a publicist.

Laurent Linn has been named art director at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. Linn arrives from Henry Holt Books for Young Readers, where he was associate art director.

Anne Brooks has been promoted to director of sales at the Overlook Press. She has been at Overlook since 2006.

Charlie Moore has been named v-p of brand management at Thomas Nelson's corporate brands team. Moore arrives from Borders Group, where he was v-p of sales and service operations.

Henry Hirsch, head of Como Sales Inc., an independent book representative group for the Northeast, died on January 24. He was 88. While at the New York City–based Como, Hirsch represented such publishers as Houghton Mifflin, Workman, Da Capo and Berkley. Hirsch, born in Brooklyn, N.Y., spent almost 60 years in the business. He is survived by his two sons, a daughter and two sisters.
