Amazon Bookstore Coop Up for Sale

By Claire Kirch -- Publishers Weekly, 2/13/2008 7:00:00 AM

Amazon Bookstore Coop, the country's oldest feminist bookstore, is for sale, Barb Wieser, the store's general manager since 1990, announced yesterday afternoon. The store, founded in Minneapolis in 1970, has moved around the city several times since then, and is currently located in a 2,800-square-foot retail space in the Northrop neighborhood. There are eight employees.

Weiser, who has been associated with the bookstore since 1986, is leaving the store to pursue other interests.
