What's Inside

by Lynn Garrett -- Publishers Weekly, 3/3/2008

Conventional wisdom has it that politics and religion are two subjects never to be raised in polite company. Add sex to that, and a conversation could get interesting. That's just as true of the wider cultural conversation, but publishers of Christian books are not afraid to tackle this volatile combination. In this issue of Update, we spotlight some of today's hottest topics for books from a Christian point of view. This presidential election year brings a flood of new titles on the role of faith in politics. And the impassioned debate over faith itself—set to a boil by recent bestselling books by atheists—continues. Finally, sexual morality is as central a topic as ever in religion, and more publicly discussed than ever before. Books on these subjects ensure there will be plenty of controversy in 2008.
