Eisner Awards Nominees
The nominations for the 2008 Eisner Comics Industry Awards have been announced. Brain K. Vaughn, Joss Whedon, and James Strum are each nominated in several categories, as is new comer Shaun Tan for his wordless graphic novel The Arrival. Also, this year the category "Best Title for a Younger Audience" was split into two separate categories: "Best Publication for Kids" and "Best Publication for Teens." The ballots will be available in late April and will be sent to industry professionals, and a website will be set up for online voting. Voting has already begun for the Hall of Fame Category; the deadline for voting in this category is April 18. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Friday July 25th at the San Diego Comic Con. More information can be found the Eisner's website.

NYAF Dates Changed
The New York Anime Festival announced new dates for the 2008 show, September 26-28 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The event was originally scheduled to be held earlier in September, but was moved to later in the month after discussions with the Javits Convention Center. Lulu Awards at MoCCA
The 2008 Lulu Awards ceremony will be held during the MoCCA Art Festival in New York City on Saturday June 7th. The event will start at 8:30 PM, and there is a recommended $7 donation at the door. The Lulu Awards, which recognize women in comics, was previously held each year at the San Diego Comic Con. IDW, DC Comics, and Archie Comics are sponsoring the event. Nominating is open to non-members this year, and will begin at the Friends of Lulu booth at New York Comic Con. More information can be found at the Friends of Lulu website.

ABC Events At BEA
The Association of Booksellers for Children is hosting two graphic novel events at BEA. ABC, along with Storyopolis, an L.A. gallery for children's book art, and the Dennis Kitchen Art Agency are presenting a gallery exhibit of Will Eisner's artwork. The exhibit will be held on May 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Also, at the annual ABC gala, there will be a silent auction of artwork by well0known and emerging comic artists. The gala and auction will be held at the Hollywood and Highland Center on Friday May 30th from 6 to 9:30 PM. More information about these events can be found at the ABC website.

Villard to Publish Unique
Villard Books, an imprint of Random house, will be publishing a graphic novel based on Platinum Studios' Unique series. Unique follows a man who can see Earth's parallel dimension. The comic is scripted by Dean Motter and drawn by Dennis Calero; Unique was created by Platinum Studios' CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Walt Disney is also developing Unique into a feature-length film.

Death Note Movie
Viz Pictures has teamed up with NCM Fathom to present the Death Note live action movie for two days in over 300 theaters in the US. The movie will be shown on May 20 and 21 at 7:30 PM. Advance tickets will be available April 18-20 to the subscribers of the Shonen Jump e-mail newsletter. Tickets for the general public will be available on April 21at the participating theaters. A list of supporting theaters can be found at the NCM Fathom website.

Last Sam and Max Episode
The last episode of the animated adventures of Steve Purcell’s hilarious freelance crimefighters, Sam and Max, is available on the Telltale's website. This is the final episode in the five episode season. All the previous episodes are also available.
