Weinstein Books has acquired What Am I Doing Here?, a forthcoming autobiography from longtime TV talk show fixture, Larry King. The book, acquired by Weinstein publisher Judy Hottensen from David Vigliano at Vigliano Associates (in association with Michael Viner of Phoenix Books), is slated for a Father's Day 2009 release. Esquire Magazine's Cal Fussman will be King's co-writer.
The book will cover King's childhood in Brooklyn, through his early career in radio and dig into his personal life, including his seven marriages (to six different women). King will also dish on various politicians--including George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon--he's met during his record-breaking run as the host of Larry King Live. The publisher notes: "[King] promises to disclose who he voted for in each election and why, and what political figures have impressed and disappointed him, going so far as to share his pick for America’s worst president."
