By Diane Roback -- Publishers Weekly, 7/22/2008 7:53:00 AM

This morning, Today hosted Mario Batali, still at the Italian Grill (Ecco, $29.95), which PW’s starred review deemed “an essential collection for any serious backyard cook.”

Shirley MacLaine appeared on The View with Sage-ing While Age-ing (Atria, $14; S&S Audio abridged CD, $29.95), just out in paperback. Tomorrow, she’ll visit the Today show.

On The Morning Show With Mike & Juliet, Francine Pappadis Friedman logged onto MatchDotBomb: A Midlife Journey through Internet Dating (Wheatmark, $15.95).

Authors on The Leonard Lopate Show:

Harvard-trained sociologist Peter Moskos, who was a Cop in the Hood: My Year Policing Baltimore's Eastern District (Princeton Univ. Press, $24.95).

Wine blogger and journalist Alice Feiring described The Battle for Wine and Love: or How I Saved the World from Parkerization (Harcourt, $23), which PW called an “entertaining oenological salvo.”

Rachel Kushner with her novel Telex from Cuba (Scribner, $25). PW wrote “Kushner's colorful, character-driven debut succinctly captures the essence of life for a gilded circle of American expats in pre-Castro Cuba, chronicling a mélange of philandering spouses, privileged carousers and their rebellious children.”

Authors on The Bob Edwards Show:

Dame Stella Rimington, retired first female director of Britain's MI5, talked about her latest book Illegal Action (Knopf, $24.95). PW starred its review, declaring it an “excellent third novel. Fans of intelligent spy thrillers are in for a treat.”

Journalists Paul Muolo and Matthew Padilla detailed the Chain of Blame: How Wall Street Caused the Mortgage and Credit Crisis (Wiley, $27.95).

Fresh Air consulted neuroscientist Michael S. Gazzaniga, author of Human: The Science Behind What Makes Us Unique (Ecco, $27.50). From PW’s starred review: “As wide-ranging as it is deep, and as entertaining as it is informative, the latest offering from Gazzaniga will please a diverse array of readers.”

Tonight on Hannity & Colmes, anti-eminent domain activist Don Corace introduces Government Pirates: The Assault on Private Property Rights--and How We Can Fight It (Harper, $14.95), which pubs today.

Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
