Alibris Pushes Textbook Sales

By Lynn Andriani -- Publishers Weekly, 7/23/2008 7:53:00 AM

Alibris, the online retailer of new and used books, CDs and DVDs, is making a push toward increasing its textbook sales. Today, it announced the addition of new features to its Web site that make it easier for customers to find and save on new and used textbooks.

Among the new features: multiple-ISBN search boxes, so customers can search for up to 25 ISBNs at a time (helpful to students looking for all textbooks listed on the syllabus for a particular course); “best-price bundles,” which groups the results of multi-ISBN searches into bundles comprising the most economical combination of available items, consolidating shipping where multiple items are available from the same independent seller; and school-specific information pages with recommended books. The new features can be viewed at alibris.com/books/textbooks.

Alibris premiered the enhancements on its parent Web site as well as on Alibris U.K. and Borders Marketplace (which it hosts in partnership with Borders.com).
