Dan Farley has ended his search for the right candidate to oversee Henry Holt, naming Marjorie Braman as editor-in-chief of the imprint. Farley, who succeeded John Sterling as president of Henry Holt in February, called Braman "one of the leading editors in the business" known for "quality and commercial books." Braman, whose new title is v-p, editor-in-chief of Henry Holt, arrives from a 12-year stint HarperCollins where, as v-p, executive editor, she's edited a star studded list of authors including Michael Crichton, Elmore Leonard and T. Jefferson Parker.Speaking to her new job, Braman said she's looking to bolster Holt's fiction list, since the imprint is better known for its nonfiction. "I hope I bring to Henry Holt, where there is a long and successful tradition of publishing serious non-fiction, a sensibility for the kind of fiction that readers find so appealing today, in addition to my own huge enthusiasm for narrative nonfiction. I see these as the two prime growth areas for the Holt list." Braman will start at Holt on September 8.
