Authors on the Air: The Shadow Factory; The Eleventh Man; The Forever War
by Diane Patrick -- Publishers Weekly, 10/9/2008
Today on Good Morning America, James Bamford offered a sneak peek into The Shadow Factory: The Ultra-Secret NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on America (Doubleday, $27.95; RH Audio CD, $29.95), which pubs on October 14.
On The Diane Rehm Show, veteran novelist Ivan Doig introduced The Eleventh Man (Harcourt, $26; Recorded Books CD, $39.99), which PW deemed “an old-fashioned greatest generation story, well told.”
The Bob Edwards Show hosted New York Times prize–winning reporter Dexter Filkins whose new book is The Forever War (Knopf, $25; RH Audio abridged CD, $29.95). PW starred its review, stating “His richly textured book is based on his work in Afghanistan and Iraq since 1998. In vividly illustrating the varied ways people in Afghanistan and Iraq have been affected by ongoing war, Filkins demonstrates that truth in prose.”
Yesterday on the Today show, former ad men Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito served up Baked: New Frontiers in Baking (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, $29.95).
Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
