Authors on the Air: Jon and Kate Gosselin; Black Men Built the Capitol; Billie Jean King on Oprah

by Diane Patrick -- Publishers Weekly, 10/16/2008

Today on Good Morning America: Jon & Kate Plus 8’s Jon and Kate Gosselin, authors of Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets (Zondervan, $19.99), just out this week.

On The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, former labor secretary Robert Reich explains Supercapitalism: The Transformation of Business, Democracy, and Everyday Life (Vintage, $15.95; Tantor Media unabridged CD, $34.99). PW called it a “compelling and important analysis of the triumph of capitalism and the decline of democracy. Provocatively argued, this book could help begin a necessary national conversation.”

Oprah chats with tennis icon and social activist Billie Jean King, author of Pressure is a Privilege: Lessons I've Learned from Life and the Battle of the Sexes (Lifetime Media, $19.95).

On The Bob Edwards Show, Associated Press political reporter Jesse J. Holland explained how Black Men Built the Capitol: Discovering African American History In and Around Washington, D.C. (Globe Pequot, $14.95).

Both Today and The View hosted George Hamilton, still promoting Don’t Mind If I Do (Touchstone, $26). Tomorrow October 17 he’ll be on The Early Show, and Saturday on Weekend Today.

Tonight, Tavis Smiley talks with former CIA operative Robert Baer, whose latest book is The Devil We Know: Dealing with the New Iranian Superpower (Crown, $25.95; RH Audio abridged CD, $34.95). PW found it a “timely and provocative analysis, arguing that Iran has already half-won its undeclared 30-year war with the United States and is rapidly becoming a superpower. His brief adds an important perspective to a crucial international debate.”

Yesterday on The Michael Baisden Show, Iyanla Vanzant discussed her 20th-anniversary revised and updated edition of Tapping the Power Within: A Path to Self-Empowerment for Women (Hay House, $24.95).

Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.

Booksellers can order these titles through Ingram at ipage.
