BookReporter.com, an online network of book related Web sites covering adult and children’s books, is launching GraphicNovelReporter.com, a consumer-oriented site focused on comics in the book format, later this month. Former Pages editor John Hogan, will direct the GraphicNovelReporter site. The new comics-focused site will be updated weekly and feature reviews and author interviews as well as news on comics and the movies and comics and Reading Clubs.
Carol Fitzgerald, founder and president of the Book Report Network, a pioneering book-oriented Web site, said the site has been planning to take the plunge into comics reporting for some time, pointing to visits to both the New York and San Diego Comic-cons in preparation. Fitzgerald said the new site will be focused on consumers.“We’re not aimed at the trade. We’ll have blogs and op-ed pieces and other consumer-oriented content.” And she also noted that the site will share its content with BookReporter network sites like Kidsreads.com and Teensreads.com. “Kid’s don’t need a special site for comics, they already know comics are just another form of book,” she said.
