Scribner Signs Laura Bush Memoir

-- Publishers Weekly, 1/5/2009 7:56:00 AM

Scribner has acquired world rights to a Laura Bush’s memoir; the book is slated to drop in 2010. Susan Moldow, executive v-p and publisher of Scribner, made the deal with Beltway attorney Robert Barnett and the publisher said the book will offer an "intimate" account of the First Lady's life, including her eight-year stint in The White House. Describing Mrs. Bush as a First Lady who "has maintained a notable level of discretion," Moldow said the book will "provide a candid and personal perspective, and an enduring record, of the years that have already determined the course of the 21st century.” Nan Graham, v-p and editor-in-chief of Scribner, will edit the memoir.
