Quick Publishing Buys VanderWyk & Burnham

-- Publishers Weekly, 1/6/2009 11:43:00 AM

Quick Publishing of St. Louis has acquired VanderWyk & Burnham, an independent publisher located in Acton, Mass. The purchase involves 25 titles, including the hardcover edition of Front of the Class, a memoir by Brad Cohen that served as the basis for a Hallmark Hall of Fame television movie that aired in December. The book tells the story of how Cohen overcame Tourette’s syndrome to become a highly regarded teacher in Atlanta. V&B published the book in 2005 and sold paperback rights to St. Martin’s, which released a trade paperback edition in November.

The V&B imprint will join Quick’s four other imprints: Senior Sense and Quick Prints which publish in the fields of family/senior/aging, parenting, character education, travel, and disaster preparedness; Cache River Press, which publishes local interest/travel books about the Midwest; and Cache River Science, which specializes in books in microbiology, pathology and reproduction.
