Weisbach Opens Management Shop

By Rachel Deahl -- Publishers Weekly, 3/5/2009 2:20:00 PM

Former Miramax Books head Rob Weisbach has launched his own creative management company, Rob Weisbach Creative Management. Weisbach hinted he was going into the agenting game by selling a book, as an independent contractor, to Ecco in June, the memoir Crazy for the Storm. Now, with his new business officially unveiled, Weisbach, is looking to represent authors in what he calls a "cross-training development company" pushing clients' works in other media--TV and film--as well as aiding them with PR tactics and the ins and outs of self-promotion.

In addition to repping its own slate of clients, the company will offer media training and editorial consulting to authors with other agents. Speaking to RWCM's approach, Weisbach said that "in these times, more than ever, creative artists will need to become the architects of their own success."

Weisbach, who ran his own imprint at William Morrow in the mid 90s and then served as v-p and editor-at-large at S&S before moving to Miramax, has worked with such authors/celebrities as Brad Meltzer, Jon Stewart, Jerry Seinfeld and Robert Pinksky.
