Manaktala Rises at MIT Press
Gita Manaktala has been promoted to editorial director. She was previously marketing director of the books division.
Schmidt Joins Kyle Books
Anja Schmidt has been named publisher, with a focus on building an American cookbook line. She previously worked at S&S and HarperCollins.
Mergens Joins Nelson Literary Agency
Lindsay Mergens has been named marketing director. She was previously advertising and promotion director of the Crown Publishing Group.
Dennis M. Dalrymple Dies
Publishing contract expert Dalrymple died March 5 in New York City. He is survived by his wife, Grand Central Books publisher Jamie Raab—whom he met while working at Warner Books—and their two children. Over the course of Dalrymple’s 40-year career, he consulted with hundreds of authors, publishers and agents. A service will be held March 19 in New York.
