While the adult trade segments were hammered in January, there were a few bright spots in AAP's monthly sales estimates. The popularity of e-books continues to grow, with the 13 publishers who report e-book sales experiencing a 173.6% jump in revenue in the month, to $8.8 million, a figure that puts e-book sales ahead of sales reported by the 14 publishers in the spoken-word audio segment ($7.7 million in sales) and the 38 university presses that report hardcover sales ($6.2 million). The children's hardcover category posted a large gain in January, up 60.2%, aided by continued strong demand for Stephenie Meyer titles.
