Authors on the Air: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf; Monica Seles; Reza Aslan

Compiled by Diane Patrick -- Publishers Weekly, 4/20/2009 10:24:00 AM

This morning, The Early Show met with Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, 23rd president of Liberia, the first elected female president on the African continent and author of This Child Will Be Great: Memoir of a Remarkable Life by Africa's First Woman President (Harper, 978-0061353475, $26.99). PW wrote “Sirleaf in her memoir reveals herself to be… resilient, determined and courageous. Although her focus is thoroughly on Liberia, the content is more widely instructive, particularly her account of the role of the Economic Community of West African States.” Tomorrow, she visits Today and The Daily Show.

Good Morning America hosted former tennis champ Monica Seles, whose Getting a Grip: On My Body, My Mind, My Self (Avery, 978-1583333303, $26) pubs tomorrow.

On The Daily Show, Reza Aslan explains How to Win a Cosmic War: God, Globalization, and the End of the War on Terror (Random House, 978-1400066728, $26; RH Audio unabridged CD, $35), which also pubs tomorrow.

C-SPAN’s Washington Journal talks with journalist Alec Russell, author of Bring Me My Machine Gun: The Battle for the Soul of South Africa, from Mandela to Zuma (PublicAffairs, 978-1586487386, $26.95). Tomorrow, he’ll be on NPR’s Morning Edition and PRI’s The World.

The Morning Show With Mike & Juliet chatted with retired game show host Bob Barker about Priceless Memories (Center Street, 978-1599951355, $24.99; Center Street unabridged CD, $29.98).

On yesterday’s Weekend Edition, Clio Award–winning songwriter and producer Marc Blatte discussed his debut novel Humpty Dumpty Was Pushed (Schaffner Press, 978-0980139419, $24.95).

Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
