Today on Oprah, chef Adam Perry Lang serves up Serious Barbecue: Smoke, Char, Baste, and Brush Your Way to Great Outdoor Cooking (Hyperion, 978-1401323066, $35), which PW said “brings pork, beef, lamb and the lowly chicken to the open flame with a mix of science, anecdote and a wide array of seasonings.”
Yesterday, Oprah talked with bestseller and senatorial wife Elizabeth Edwards, whose Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life's Adversities (Broadway, 978-0767931366, $22.95; RH Audio unabridged CD, $25) pubs today.
This morning, Today shared a glass of wine with Australian sommelier Matt Skinner, author of Heard it Through the Grapevine: The Things You Should Know to Enjoy Wine (Mitchell Beazley, 978-1845334833, $24.99).
The View hosted Alyse Myers, v-p, brand programs for the New York Times and author of Who Do You Think You Are? A Memoir (Touchstone, 978-1416543060, $15). PW found it a “dark though moving book. Although this was a working-class Jewish family in Queens in the 1960s and '70s, it wasn't the sort featured in storybooks.”
The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet met with young author Alec Greven, who explained How to Talk to Moms (Collins, 978-0061710018, $9.99).
Both All Things Considered and The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer interviewed Maria Shriver, co-executive producer of The Alzheimer’s Project, a four-part HBO television series debuting on Sunday. The companion book, The Alzheimer's Project: Momentum in Science by John Hoffman and Susan Froemke (PublicAffairs, 978-1586487560, $25.95), pubs next week.
Today on The Leonard Lopate Show: Peter Marber, with Seeing the Elephant: Understanding Globalization from Trunk to Tail (Wiley, 978-0470283851, $27.95).
Yesterday, Leonard Lopate talked with journalist Selena Roberts, whose book is A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez (Harper, 978-0061791642, $26.99; HarperAudio abridged CD, $29.99).
On Sunday, BookTV hosts white anti-racism activist and scholar Tim Wise, author of Between Barack and a Hard Place: Racism and White Denial in the Age of Obama (City Lights Publishers, 978-0872865006, $13.95), which PW said “pushes plenty of buttons in this methodical breakdown of racism's place in the wake of Barack Obama's victory. There's no sugar coating here for whites, nor are there any news flashes for Americans of color, but Wise bravely enumerates the unpalatable truths of a nation still struggling to understand its legacy of racist oppression.”
Also on Sunday, Hour of Power chats with Dr. Sheila Schuller Coleman, author of Mommy Grace: Erasing Your Mommy Guilt (FaithWords, 978-0446545419, $14.99).
Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
