Amazon Optimizes Kindle Store for Safari on iPhones

By Lynn Andriani -- Publishers Weekly, 5/11/2009 7:54:00 AM

Amazon's Kindle Store is now optimized for the Safari Web browser on the iPhone. When customers who use the Kindle for iPhone app click on “Get Books,” the Kindle Store—adjusted for the size and shape of the iPhone and iPod touch screens—opens in Safari. Customers can then access to the store’s 280,000 books.

The Kindle for iPhone application was released March 4. Ian Freed, v-p of Amazon Kindle, said the most common feedback the company received from customers was that they wanted “a better experience for purchasing new Kindle books from their iPhones. We’ve been working hard to respond to that feedback with a new web site optimized for Safari on iPhone and we’re excited to do that today.”
