This morning, The Early Show consulted medium and bestseller James Van Praagh, whose Unfinished Business: What the Dead Can Teach Us About Life (HarperOne, 978-0061778148, $24.99) pubs today. Tomorrow, he’ll visit The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet.
On All Things Considered, journalist Karl Taro Greenfeld introduced Boy Alone: A Brother's Memoir (Harper, 978-0061136665, $25.99), which pubs today. PW called it an “unsparing memoir of the author's life with his severely autistic brother. The result is a bleak but affecting chronicle of a family simultaneously shattered and bound tight by autism.”
Authors on today’s Leonard Lopate Show:
- Journalist Gretchen Peters planted Seeds of Terror: How Heroin Is Bankrolling the Taliban and al Qaeda (Thomas Dunne Books, 978-0312379278, $25.95; Tantor Media CD, $29.99), another title pubbing today. PW wrote “Peters draws on 10 years of reporting from Afghanistan and Pakistan for this important examination of the nexus of [drug] smugglers and extremists in the global war against terrorists. Peters has exhaustively framed one of the thorniest problems facing policy makers in this long war.”
- Polish-born Clara Kramer, president of the Holocaust Resource Foundation at Kean University and author of Clara's War: One Girl's Story of Survival (Ecco, 978-0061728600, $25.99). PW said “This vividly detailed and taut narrative is a fitting tribute to the bravery of victims and righteous gentiles alike.”
The Diane Rehm Show hosted Reif Larsen, author of The Selected Works of T. S. Spivet (Penguin, 978-1594202179, $27.95; Penguin Audio unabridged CD, $49.95). From PW’s review: “Fans of Wes Anderson will find much to love in the offbeat characters and small (and sometimes not so small) touches of magic thrown into the mix during the cross-country, train-hopping adventure of a 12-year-old mapmaking prodigy, T.S. Spivet.”
Bob Edwards met with journalist and running enthusiast Christopher McDougall, whose book is Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen (Knopf, 978-0307266309, $24.95; RH Audio unabridged CD, $39.95).
Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
