Today on Good Morning America: Newt Gingrich and Jackie Gingrich Cushman, whose 5 Principles for a Successful Life: From Our Family to Yours (Crown Forum, 978-0307462329, $22) is just out this week.
On the Today show, View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck continued promoting The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide (Center Street, 978-1599951881, $24.99).
The View hosted Dr. Cheryl Saban, author of What Is Your Self-Worth: A Woman’s Guide to Validation (Hay House, 978-1401923952, $24.95). Tomorrow, she’ll be on The Early Show.
The Bob Edwards Show heard from poet E. Ethelbert Miller, with his memoir The 5th Inning (PM Press, 978-1604860627, $18.95).
Authors on today’s Leonard Lopate Show:
- Christopher Beha, whose new book is The Whole Five Feet: What the Great Books Taught Me About Life, Death, and Pretty Much Everything Else (Grove Press, 978-0802118844, $24). From PW’s review: “The broader conclusions Beha (now an assistant editor at Harper's) reaches about cultural values and the meaning of life are disappointingly pat; even the young memoirist concedes, I haven't written the book I set out to write.”
- Giulia Melucci, with I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti (Grand Central Publishing, 978-0446534420 $23.99; Brilliance Audio unabridged CD, $29.99), which PW said “should find an audience among the Sex and the City set.”
Both The Leonard Lopate Show and Charlie Rose host veteran Mideast correspondent Neil MacFarquhar, author of The Media Relations Department of Hizbollah Wishes You a Happy Birthday (PublicAffairs, 978-1586486358, $26.95). PW gave its review a star: “This excellent book emphasizes questions Arabs ask themselves. MacFarquhar's approach is well-rounded; he includes less palatable facts and facts often overlooked.”
The Diane Rehm Show interviewed Dr. David Kessler, former FDA commissioner under presidents Bush and Clinton and author of The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite (Rodale, 978-1605297859, $25.95; Rodale Books unabridged CD, $29.99). PW’s review had this to say: “A gentle though urgent plea for reform, Kessler's book provides a simple food rehab program to fight back against the industry's relentless quest for profits while an entire country of people gain weight and get sick.”
This evening on The Colbert Report: Michael Pollan, whose In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto (Penguin, 978-0143114963, $15; Penguin Audio unabridged CD, $29.95) is recently out in paperback. PW’s starred review deemed it a “powerfully argued, thoroughly researched and elegant manifesto.” Tomorrow, he’s on The Leonard Lopate Show.
Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
