Ang Lee’s latest film, Taking Woodstock, will have its world premiere Saturday, May 16, at the Cannes Film Festival—and Long Island independent publisher Square One has the movie tie-in edition. The house will release a trade paperback of Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert and a Life by Elliot Tiber with Tom Monte on June 1. First printing is 75,000.
Taking Woodstock is about how Tiber, a humble motel owner, became a hero in carrying off the momentous 1969 Woodstock rock concert. Square One published it as a hardcover in 2007, and sold movie rights to Lee. The new movie tie-in edition features French flaps depicting “remember 1969?”-themed top 10 lists along with Tiber’s hand-drawn map of his El Monaco motel grounds from 1969.
