Promos at Crown

Tara Gilbride, publicity director at Crown Business, is taking on the additional role of publicity director for Broadway Business. She's worked with such authors as T. Boone Pickens and Jean Chatzky. Elsewhere in Crown, Linda Kaplan has been promoted from director of sub rights to v-p. Robert Manger has also been promoted, from director of online sales and marketing to v-p.

Carter Up at Diamond

Stuart Carter has been named worldwide Amazon czar at Diamond Book Distributors. Carter will be working with Amazon U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Japan, Germany and China to manage the global supply chain and create worldwide promotions. Carter has held various positions at DBD, including sales manager to Amazon U.S., Levy, Target, Hudson News and Hastings.

Obituary: Eden Ross Lipson

Eden Ross Lipson, former children's books editor of the New York Times and a tireless champion of children's books and literacy, died of complications from pancreatic cancer on May 12, at the age of 66. She had been an editor at the New York Times Book Review for 31 years, and served as its children's editor from 1984 until her retirement in 2005. She was also the author of two books.
